Resellers: companies selling climbs run by others
Reselling is not automatically a bad product: a good reseller adds home-country consumer protection, curated itineraries and a quality bar, and some of the most respected brands on this mountain work this way. But you are paying two companies instead of one — we have documented markups of 30-70% over direct prices — and you deserve to know who is actually responsible for your safety on the mountain.
That is the test this page applies: does the company name its ground operator? Where it does, the card says who. Where it doesn't, that is the first question to ask before any deposit — a company that won't tell you who runs your climb is asking you to buy a mystery.

Alpine Ascents International
Seattle, WA, USA · since 1986
Foreign-owned · Resells, ground operator not named
The only operator here that names its Tanzanian ground operator: Big Expeditions, itself on the KPAP register. That transparency is exactly what the reseller question exists for.
Ultimate Kilimanjaro
Las Vegas, Nevada · since 2006
Foreign-owned · Resells, ground operator not named
Trustpilot: profile claimed 2014, still no reviews
Their own terms state they work with local operators in Tanzania who are not their employees or agents. The Tanzanian company that actually runs the climb is not named anywhere on the site.
Exodus Adventure Travels
Surbiton, Surrey, UK; US office in Seattle · since 1974
Foreign-owned · Resells, ground operator not named
Trustpilot 4.9 from 5597 · paid account · 1 duplicate profile
Who actually runs their climbs is undisclosed: no Tanzanian ground operator is named anywhere public. They resell, and the reseller question is exactly what a claim would answer.
A reseller that names its ground operator and adds real protections is a legitimate choice at a knowable premium. An undisclosed one leaves you unable to check crew treatment, safety record or licensing at all.
